Washington: Nepal's Ambassador to the United States of America, Shreedhar Khatry, praised the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as a crucial partner in Nepal's socio-economic development efforts. He made these remarks during the inauguration of an audio-visual material screening aimed at promoting tourism in Nepal in Washington DC on Tuesday. The tourism publicity material was a collaborative effort between the USAID and Nepal Tourism Board, intended to boost tourism in Nepal.

Khatry highlighted Nepal's abundant natural heritage and cultural diversity, which have earned the country recognition on the global stage. He emphasized that Nepal's democratic process and liberal economic policies have created opportunities for foreign investment. He urged for increased investment in key sectors such as energy, tourism, agriculture, and information technology.

Anjali Kaur, the USAID's deputy assistant administrator for Asia, shared that the agency has prioritized supporting Nepal's development in agriculture, tourism, and information technology. She expressed the USAID's commitment to collaborating with the Nepal Tourism Board to further promote tourism in the country.

The audio-visual materials related to Nepal's tourism promotion were developed by the US Television Channel, PBS, specifically by the programme presenter and executive producer Denis Oho. These materials will be showcased in various other areas to attract more visitors to Nepal.

The event also saw the presence of former US Ambassador to Nepal, Peter Bord, NRNA Chairperson Dr. Arjun Banjade, and embassy officials, further solidifying the partnership between Nepal and the USAID in fostering development initiatives.

Overall, the collaboration with the USAID and the efforts to promote tourism through audio-visual materials reflect the dedication of both nations to enhance Nepal's economic growth and attract more visitors to experience its rich cultural and natural heritage.
